To all you kind folk who stuck your necks out and offered advice on my portfolio a big thankyou. I am not at home at the moment as I am up in Auck having a nosy around the boat show. An annual pilgrimage since I started building my boat and still go there even though we launched the boat a year ago. When I get home I will certainly print out all the responses and see where I go.

In response to some questions and comments though. I do have money invested overseas through the British share market. I can never remember what they are called. Things like Japanese Invesco and European Fidelity etc etc. I looked at trying out the American share market but after reading a lot of bulletin boards I became very disillusioned with the online broking system and as such I had this fear money could disappear never to be seen again. Maybe someone in here can through this forum show me and maybe other interested persons how it is done and the pitfalls??  Maybe even how to read the information given on each companies shares. I certainly didn't understand it when I tried looking at it.
I also have funds tied up in New Zealand in the likes of St Lukes and Waltus bonds and short term bank terms.
Yes I own my own house freehold and am in the throws of drawing up plans to double the size of it as an investment option. I have found to try and retire at 46 isn't as easy as one would think it was so a project is required.
As far as what I want in regards my level of richness? Well I guess I would like to double or even treble my current worth in as short a time frame as possible as a minimum. I don't believe the state will look after me  if I am one of the lucky ones to live to a ripe old age hence I need to make money somehow to allow a comfortable lifestyle for my wife and I.
Hope that gives a little insight into who I am and where I am coming from and where I would like to head to. Oh. Cruising the oceans on our boat is also a dream. :))))))
Cheers. John
