The shares recommended by Laura sound pretty good but if you are a small
investor who wants a good spread of risk I would suggest the Tower Tortis
Ozzy Fund which is a NZ listed vehicle (OZY) and is an index fund comprised
of the top 20 Australian companies.

Boring, I know but if you have a small sum to invest it's not a bad way to
start.

I have averaged 13.4% per annum after tax for the three years I have been
invested in this which I consider more than satisfactory for a relatively
conservative investment.

It all depends on what your goals are
