The Deepvideo people made it onto Slashdot.org,
one of the most used and powerful geek news media sites (the Deepvideo site
couldn't handle the visitor load generated) last night. It attracted a lot of
comments from industry insiders including...
"I, of course, got one of these to
evaluate. It's a piece of crap. Absolute crap. Sure, 800X600 sounds
"decent" but what they don't tell you is that it has an interlace
refresh frequency of 54 Hz. Big deal, you say. Well, it IS a BIG FRIGGIN DEAL
when every lightbulb in the house pops all at once! Boy was my wife pissed. I
sent it back. You'll never see one of MY games on this hunk of junk.
"
It seems that it may be too late to market with
the recent invention and development of retina scanning displays and it only
offering "layered" as opposed to 3D viewing. Coupled with the sheer
amount of capital necessary to take a major piece of hardware to market and
profit, Deepvideo doesn't look that exciting.
Shame,
Gwilym

devices have always had problems with convergence (combination of left and right
eye images), motion parallax (the ability to peer around corners) and limited
view range.
Deep Video Imaging provides a full color image with a true depth of field
which can be viewed by many, simultaneously, without the need for special
glasses or head tracing devices. Commercial Applications
