Comment : Has anyone seen or heard about Intershop, a B2B/2C operator on a very large scale. I am wondering how Advantage /Strathmore et. al. shape up against this player, which must be eyeing up the Asian markets just as keenly.

Intershop enfinity, flexible "E-commerce Operating System," sets standard in online business world
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2000-- Intershop Communications, Inc., the world's leading provider of sell-side e-commerce applications and software solutions, announced today more than forty Intershop enfinity licenses have been sold. enfinity, launched in late 1999, is a complete sell side e-commerce application that allows businesses to sell anywhere over the Internet. enfinity offers the enterprise advanced online selling features which enable E-commerce transactions through a wide variety of complex business models. enfinity is based on an open standard, non-proprietary architecture that integrates easily with existing business systems.
``Intershop enfinity is easily deployable with a faster time to market, and has been designed from the ground up as a scalable, distributable and multi-platform application capable of meeting the most demanding requirements of an online B2B enterprise,'' said Stephan Schambach, CEO of Intershop. ``With enfinity, businesses can sell through online marketplaces, through affiliated sites or through wireless and other emerging technologies.''
Among the largest enfinity customers are Hewlett-Packard, Dresdner Bank and Star East Net in Asia. Many Intershop enfinity-powered sites have already gone live, owing to the quick deployment time. These sites include Wrth (B2B automotive), DirectOrder (B2B computers), B.O.S. (B2B construction materials), direktkauf.de (B2C groceries), officeXL (B2C office supplies), H.O.T. (B2C mail order), and Otto-Supermarkt (B2C groceries).
``enfinity provides the fundamental backbone for enabling E-commerce, as well as the quickest deployment time,'' said Keith Costello, Intershop President of the Americas. ``enfinity is uniquely capable of tackling some of the biggest challenges of selling online, including support for multi-language, multi-currency B2B transactions as well as international tax calculations.''
``Intershop is also making strong inroads in U.S. market penetration. This is clearly illustrated by looking at our first quarter revenues of $23.75 million, up 258% from the same period in 1999. This significant boost in revenues is directly related to the favorable market acceptance of Intershop enfinity,'' said Costello.
