[sharechat] electricity price index

Happy Easter everyone

I notice that the Dominion once a week publishes the electricity price index. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is the same as "wholesale electricity prices"? How relevant are these prices to the business of generators like Contact or retailers like transalta? Would this price index also affect businesses that use large amounts of power say Tranzrail for example? regards michael
