Michael,
I see Ian has enlightened you concerning the two indicators
you were asking about. These two are certainly very
popular.
If you would like to enquire further get hold of the book
"Trading for a Living" by Dr Alex Elder. Website is
elder.com.
Also the Australian Assn has an excellent website
ataa.com.au. Lots of info there. Ifyou buy the book from
the elder site you go on the email list for a report sent out from time to
time which is worthwhile reading.
I have just been to Fiji for a week long Traders' Camp with
Alex Elder and Colin Nicholson who is a top notch expert on Technical Analysis
and the Australian market.
Between the two presenters we were given an incredible
education. The two techniques which overlapped a little had
something to cover the interests of the 46 attendees. We also
had a tremendous amount of fun which is to help with learning. Even my
older brain has come home remembering plenty and we have good notes as
well. Some of us made our own notes but the pool was magnificent and
at night the fun was irresistible. I have just seen some of
the photos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Incidentally - both men used extremely simple techniques and
steady risk loss parameters for individual trades and for portfolio
values. They were very tight indeed. Probably the
main lesson for me was managing risk and loss.
Later this year there will be other opportunities
here and in Australia. If you have a chance to hear
either of these men take it and go. The costs will be recouped
again and again.
Don't forget - if you are in Auckland - This Thursday, 23
March (and the fourth Thursday of each month) STANZ meets at the McGhie
Lecture Theatre in the Auckland College of Retailing, 74 Epsom Avenue,
Gate 2 for plenty of parking. Door fee to cover cost of rental,
equipment and a very cheerful cupper.
Good luck to all of you - Fundies and Charties
alike. From a cheerful
cloud nineish Phyllis.
