[sharechat] INL going ex div is reason why

Kausa & Lyn, With stocks such as INL which are going ex div, on most
occasions their share prices are supposed to drop by the amount of
dividend as soon as it is paid out - though in some cases, the
percentage drop may be less. INL shareholders are getting a special
dividend of 8.5c per split share or 25.5 cents pre-share split (the
record date being on 24/3/00)and for those who bought before last
Friday, another 7 cents per split share (21 cents pre-share split). It
all sounds pretty complex but it works itself out at the end of the
day. The important thing to remember really is that no one buys into a
stock such as INL for short-term trading! After the dividends dust
settles, and the profit takers depart for greener pastures, only then
should we expect to see some sustainable share price growth.
Kind regards,
Murray
