Don't you know how other stock markets have and will preform strongly? Billions of tax payers money look at Japans recovery! No tax hahaha so you don't use the roads or drink tap water eh?

I don't really know that this is a sharechat topic, but:

1) I am against compulsory anything, including superannuation. This govt. loves to intrude themselves in our lives already, please don't give them any more openings or invitations.
2) Taxation is theft (this can never be repeated too much).
2) Why would this govt. invest in nz companies when they come to realise that they are in fact destroying the competitive business environment that is needed for those companies to be profitable and hence to increase shareholder wealth?

Just some thoughts. Sorry Ben if you didn't want political content.

On other things: Wavenet (ASX) didn't do too well (but not too bad either). I'm still debating buying in - it is a sheer punt.
About a week ago I was looking at FiberTel (FTL - ASX), but decided not to invest. Then their announcement last week, then this week their price just keeps going up and up, now its too late. And that is about the story of my investing since the start of the New Year.

I think this may actually come to pass. If the govt does decide to put away some money rather than paying debt (a dubious policy but lets assume they do it) they will put it into NZ stocks, at least in part. I am sure Anderton/Cullen will be persuadable on the idea that NZ savings should go into NZ companies. So it is perhaps not so far fetched that a proportion of tax dollars could flow into NZ equities.
