In short - it would entirely depend on what had had gone on before. If
company A's performance in previous years was worse than it's current
situation and showed signs that it had resolved and was resolving many of
it's obvious problems and company B performance was worsening and not likely
to get better due to competition etc then Company A would probably be the
better bet.
No investor who employs fundamental analysis would just look at one years
data.
