RE: [sharechat] Sharechat's new sites

I am all for it. By asking (and answering) those questions we provide a
valuable resource for other voyeurs and newbies to learn a few tricks
perhaps. It is much more suited to a web based forum than an e-mail forum
however. Perhaps some basic trading terms and fact files, or an FAQ of
common forum questions for beginners. I am sure there are plenty of willing
old hands to answer questions of this type.

Brian (and all)

I am one of the silent (potential) majority out there that just reads and
does not contribute (as of yet). This does not come from a selfish
perspective, but rather from the perspective that you have mentioned
below.....I question my knowledge (at this stage) to make any valid/valuable
contribution. I would be interested to know if the guys and girls, who seem
to sound like they know what's going on, are for or against "silly"
questions being thrown into this forum??

Cheers

Damian

Ben: This forum seems to be growing at a fantastic rate. Congratulations and
I'm looking forward to seeing your new products/services.

You talked about doing some surveying of the Sharechat community. I'd be
interested to see just how deep that community goes and whether there might
be a silent majority out there and if there is how many might be enticed
into contributing if there were specific boards available, ie an IT board, a
Fundamentals board, a board to help beginners evaluate long term buy and
hold stocks etc.

This comment is in no way being critical but at present contributions are
heavily weighted towards higher risk topics and it's possible beginners feel
uncomfortable "interrupting" the existing forum with seemingly basic
questions and comments.

One of the great problems facing the NZ stock market is the fact that the
general public are still afraid (1987) of this form of investment. I believe
we should be looking longer term and trying hard to encourage and help more
people feel comfortable with equity investment. We should be trying to get
the message across that there are other way of investing in equities without
having to chase Eric Watsons, AQLs, penny stocks etc. This idea may bore the
c..p out of day traders but it brings me back to my comment; I wonder how
many people out there would read and contribute to, for example, a
"beginners board".

Cheers, Brian

PS. Good to see someone else out there is an Islay whisky fan.
