The difference in M/stock and M/share is two fold. 1. Metastock costs approx $750.00 (don't quote me on this) and is available in Auckland with a local stockist who is also able to provide the data for same at a very reasonable rate either through Hyperterminal or email. Local and overseas data. There are books for study and a Society which has a monthly meeting (apart from the usual monthly STANZ mtg) for new comers to Metastock. M/stock is a charting programme for those who wish to manage their own funds using Technical Analysis. Some are devoted Chartists and some take a base from Fundamentals and use T/A for timing and volume signals. 2, Metashare - once againI am not very sure of the costs - has been as high $14,000.00 I heard. This is really a system based on certain signals given by a special input system on Metastock which is the charting software used basically. This allows investors to just look up the companies selected by the "system". There are agreat number of systems available both in Auckland, Australia and if you look at "Stocks and Commodities" Magazine the choices are considerable. I use M/stock and have done for several years and like to feel that the mistakes made are my own and may be corrected by steady discipline and some careful study. I have used other software as well but prefer M/stock but that is not to say that the other software packages are not excellent. (I hope my double negative says what I mean it say that is that there are several excellent programs available.) Supercharts,Ezycharts,AIQ and Omnitrader not to mention Henley's and this just a few. There are several reliable sources of data also. I have mentioned this before but in case someone has not yet witnessed my Internet verbosity on a subject which I consider to be an excellent challenge for thoseof us for whom there is no longer a workplace available or those of us who are planning for that day and are looking at a second source of income. 7.30 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month you will find around 100 eager and cheerful , thirsty for knowledge, education and ideas Technical Analysts at the McGhie Lecture Theatre, Auckland College of Education in Epsom. Everyone welcome $5.00 cover charge for hall, equipment and supper. I sincerely hope I am not contravening any policy for sharechat and apolgise if I am. This is not something which gives a profit to any person or organisation but has been helpful and kindly to many members. Soirry I am so long winded.
