>an up-to-day Virus Programme) I did this. Is it not possible for the >programme like Sharechat to have a virus scanner. I believe that the NZ It is possible to put a virus scanner in at our end, but there's really no point. Protecting yourself from viruses in email is quite simple: never, ever, run executables mailed to you. Not even if the mail seems to be from someone you know - as the case with Happy99, that doesn't mean that the person sent it to you themselves. Running a virus scanner isn't a complete solution, because the executables could still be trojans of some kind (for example, it could be something specifically targetted at you, rather than a virus spreading itself in the wild). Virus scanners can only protect against the viruses they know, so you still have to be careful not to run programs emailed to you.. _______________________________________________________________________ Will Bryant, will@core-dev.co.nz cell +64 21 655 443 http://www.core-dev.co.nz/ Personal: http://www.core-dev.co.nz/will/ ShareChat Ltd. technical manager http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ [PGP 0x96A7F40A, FP 827F A2A9 C718 106D 8F80 E16E A244 D5F2 96A7 F40A] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, email sharechat-request@sharechat.co.nz with "unsubscribe" in the body of the message, or use the unsubscription form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.html.
