Remember the Monroe Agreement, formulated under JFK which states that America's interests are paramount. Sure Greenspan is tapped into the rest of the world, but he answers to his board and has responsibility to his govt first and foremost. That about sums it up. Raising interest rates a bit more now may bring share prices down hard - but then again, the market(s) have had fair warning during the last three months. Regs
