Increasing sales of V is top of the agenda for Frucor's (NZSE: FRU) new Australian boss, former Lion Nathan (NZSE: LNN) executive John Rymarz.

Frucor MD Mark Cowsill announced Mr Rymarz' appointment to the top Aussie job on Monday, saying his thorough knowledge of the Australian cold beverage industry, along with a strong management and operations background, will make a substantial contribution to the company.

Most recently Mr Rymarz was CEO of the Australian NBL but prior to this worked for Lion Nathan as vice-president of US operations and also spent time with Pepsi Cola and Spring Valley Beverages.

Mr Cowsill says the company's focus in Australia for the next 12 months will be to drive its V energy drink harder to lift per capita consumption and to add value to the bottled water category through the recent launch of the Mizone sportswater brand.

"This effort will be supported with a doubling of marketing investment in Australia over the coming year," he says.

Frucor says the newly created position of CEO Australia marks the next phase of the company's strategic rollout across the Tasman.

"Over the past year we have successfully developed a robust platform for future growth, particularly through the acquisition of the Spring Valley sales and distribution system," says Mr Cowsill.

"We are now preparing for the next phase of Frucor's development which will, over time, involve the introduction of a broader range of unique, premium brands focused on the impulse channels."

In the year ended June Frucor's Australian operating revenues grew 56.7% to $46.7 million with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation up 93% to $10.8 million.
