Pakuranga-based marine company Rayglass Boats was named supreme winner at the WestpacTrust Manukau Business Excellence Awards last night.
Rayglass, which has quadrupled its exports of custom-built fibreglass boats in the past three years, also collected the Cock & Bull award for exporting.
Other category winners:
- Skill NZ Staff Development Award: Lakeside Convention Centre;
- Excellence in Tourism and Business Contribution to the Community: Auckland International Airport;
- Westfield Manukau Retail Excellence Award: ATS Pacific, an inbound travel operator;
- Phillips Fox Innovation Award: Tapestry Knitwear;
- Mariner 7 Best Emerging Business Award: South Pacific Loans;
- Kuehne & Nagel Transport, Warehousing and Distribution Award: Express International Logistics;
- Telecom Local Directories Best Small Business: Transport Engineering Research NZ, an independent research institute;
- Telecom Local Directories Customers' Choice Award: LA Barbers, Manukau; and
- ThinkSafe Health and Safety Award: Pacific Steel & Pacific Wire, part of Fletcher Steel.
The late Tom Ah Chee, founder of Foodtown supermarkets, and David Levene, founder of Levene's, were honoured by Manukau mayor Sir Barry Curtis as inductees in the Manukau Business Hall of Fame.
