It's believed the move takes a lead from Australia, where competitor Qantas publishes similar details on a monthly basis, including such information as the number of passengers it has carried.
In the newly released Air NZ statistics the company has bundled together results from its international, domestic and Ansett operations, which makes it difficult to make divisional comparisons.
The figures show that in the first quarter of the financial year the airline group had a passenger load factor of 72.5%, up nominally from 72% in the same period last year.
On a monthly basis compared with last year the passenger loading was down during July, on a par in August, but increased in September.
In its 2000 result the airline reported its domestic operations had a passenger load factor of 66.7% for the full year and its international division 70%. In 1999 Ansett Holdings reported a passenger load factor of 71.73%.
Revenue passenger kilometres, or RPKs, were up nearly 8% on the first quarter last year to 10 billion and available seat kilometres (ASKs) rose 7% to 13.8 billion.
