Barrister and professional director Jane Taylor will become chair of New Zealand Post Group in October, the government has announced.
Taylor will take over from Michael Cullen, who retires from the position on Oct. 31. Taylor is a barrister based in Queenstown and a professional director across finance, law and forestry science company boards.
She is currently chair of Landcare Research New Zealand, deputy chair of Radio New Zealand and a director of Silver Fern Farms, Hirepool Group and OTPP NZ Forest Investments. Taylor has also served as a director of Heartland, GNS Science, Scion, REANNZ and on the Legal Services Agency Board.
“Ms Taylor is a highly experienced commercial Crown director and chair who will bring to the board experience of the Crown environment, relevant industry experience and a collaborative leadership style," state-owned enterprises minister Todd McClay said.
New Zealand Post is looking to sell its 45 percent stake in Kiwibank after a $495 million indicative offer from the NZ Superannuation Fund and Accident Compensation Corp, announced in April and intended to be completed by the end of its financial year on June 30. On June 24, the state-owned enterprise said due diligence on the sale was progressing well, but it needed more time due to the size of the transaction.
