Statistics New Zealand says the provisional value of merchandise exports June is $2.809 billion, $29 million more than the early estimate published at the end of July.
"Both the monthly exports trend and imports trend are rising after a period of little change. The trade balance trend is showing a stable surplus," the Government department reports.
The figures show that the seasonally adjusted value of merchandise exports for the June quarter is 6.6% higher than for the March period.
Dairy products and meat accounted for more than 90% of the June quarter increase in export values.
For the year ended June New Zealand's merchandise exports were valued at $31.916 billion, up 22.6% on last year and giving a trade deficit of just $22 million, the smallest June year deficit since the $1.358 billion surplus recorded in 1994.
