1st February 2022 Morning Report

U.S. market ended higher on Monday at the end of a volatile month. Nasdaq was having the worst start to the year while investors were concerned about the interest rate rising.  

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.72%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.40% and 2.68%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed lower as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.02%), the Dax 30 (+0.99%), CAC 40 (+0.48%) and the STOXX (+0.91%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.07%), HSI (+1.07%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.97%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.78%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.169%. Oil was down to $91.21 per barrel, up 1.31%. The gold price was at US$1797.11 per ounce, up 0.43%.
