ARB - New General Manager for ArborGen's Brazil Operations

ArborGen Holdings Limited (NZX: ARB ) advises Adriano E. Amaral de Almeida will assume the role of General Manager of its Brazil operations. Adriano succeeds Gabriela Monnerat, who will continue in a consulting capacity to facilitate a seamless transition.

Chief Executive Officer of ArborGen, Justin Birch, said "Adriano is a great addition to the ArborGen executive team, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in tree improvement and breeding as well as an understanding of the Brazilian forestry market. Adriano will oversee our Brazil commercial production and sales operations, and marketing program, providing forest landowners access to our rich and broad portfolio of superior Eucalyptus and Loblolly pine products.

 

Amaral de Almeida comes to ArborGen with more than 20 years in tree improvement science and breeding. More recently, he was the head of Acacia and Eucalyptus tree improvement at APRIL Indonesia where he was responsible for the tree breeding program, including the biomolecular lab, genomic projects, wood properties lab, Acacia and Eucalyptus seed production, and research and development project management.

 

Amaral de Almeida has a bachelor’s degree in forestry engineering from Viçosa Federal University, a master's degree in forest science from Viçosa Federal University, and a master's of innovation management from Campinas University.

 

Chairman of ArborGen, David Knott Jr, paid tribute to Gabriela, saying: “Gabriela has successfully managed our Brazil operations through a period of strong growth, and has ensured that ArborGen’s Brazilian operations are well positioned for the future. On behalf of the Board, shareholders and our staff, we thank Gabriela for her valued leadership and contributions and wish her the very best in her future endeavours”.
