Auckland International Airport, the nation’s primary gateway, has appointed a new chief financial officer after his predecessor took up the same position with PGG Wrightson barely a year into his tenure.
Simon Robertson, who has been with the airport for almost five years in several senior financial and aeronautical roles, will take up the position in early August.
“Simon is a proven performer who will drive Auckland Airport forward as a business,” said chief executive Simon Moutter in a statement. “He will provide an immediate transition to the role and he will hit the ground running.”
Robertson will oversee the company’s wide range of investments, which include the construction of a four-star 260-room hotel in the next two years and $180 million worth of corporate bonds it sold in the past nine months.
The airport’s credit rating cut to A- from A by Standard & Poor’s earlier this year. The shares gained 0.6% to $1.62 in trading today, and have slid 3.1% in the year-to-date.
