US market closed higher on Tuesday as President Putin said he expected room for further discussion with the West and indicated Russia was pulling back some troops near Ukraine.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 1.04%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.33% and 2.13%, respectively.

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.03%), the Dax 30 (+1.98%), CAC 40 (+1.86%) and the STOXX (+1.95%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.79%), HSI (-0.82%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.50%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.05%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.567%. Oil was down to $93.20 per barrel, down 3.40%. The gold price was at US$1855.33 per ounce, down 0.85%.
