One things for sure NZ need around 2000 megawatts and Now This could be produced cleanly, safely and reliably with two Nuclear power Stations For one to look into them they need to assess today's model (not yesteryears) Generation III types (Generation IV will be out in about another 25 years) In fact they could probably buy these second hand (never been used) from the USA at big savings Because of environmental drum banging and political cowardice there are a number sitting idle never been started Admittedly there are alternatives Wind Tide solar Steam Steam is capable of also product large amounts of power Huntly 1000meg is on last legs and is likely to fail! Needs urgent replacing. NZ continuing Gas supply is doubtful Wind needs large areas on land or out to sea Solar would need large scale surface areas House roofs can be used but only daylight hours (cost is getting cheaper, with cells more efficient and one can reverse homes power into grid and get paid by supplier for doing so. Solar Hotwater is a good idea ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/chat/forum/
