The cycle you may be referring to is the Kondratieff Wave

That article by Wong was discussed at the Kitco Precious Metal discussion 
site. http://www.kitcomm.com/cgi-bin/comments/gold/display_short.cgi You 
could call up that date and search for people comments. I seem to recall the 
general concensus was that the conclusions were sound but the leadup was a 
bit suspect.

Cycles are fascinating until they're not. There is a Gold cycles discussion 
here: http://www.capitalstool.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1296 Currently, 
some of us are trying to interpret the apparent 8 year cycle top in Gold (in 
USD). You might find it interesting to read the thread from the beginning. 
The monthly cycle broke down in November.
