[sharechat] Life is a trap for logicians

I enclose an excerpt from a column by my favourite financial commentator,
Peirpont in the Australian Financial Review.

http://www.pierpont.com.au

'Perhaps the last word should go to that fine but half-forgotten English author
G.K. Chesterton, who believed that life is a trap for logicians, because it is
almost reasonable but not quite. He wrote: ``It looks just a little more
mathematical and regular than it is; its exactitude is obvious, but its
inexactitude is hidden; its wildness lies in wait.''.'

He advises successful investors to ignore mathematical theories and read
English literature.

PS. Macdunks thoughts on beating the odds gambling are expressed succinctly in
literature as well.

'The more you gamble the more the arithmetic grinds you into dust.'
Mario Puzo 'Fools Die'
