I can do no better than quote Robin Bell from the Bell Group of Richmond shareholders at Richmond's annual general meeting "The high court finding that PPCS had committed gross commercial misconduct had not been overturned by the Court of Appeal." "But gross commercial misconduct has been rewarded with success. The conclusion from this, that ends justify the means, is anathema to me. The message that it sends to the commercial sector is unacceptable." As the religious festival celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is approaching let me get biblical. Parliament has given the courts wide powers to smite evil doers. The Court of Appeal has refused to throw the money changers from the temple. The Bell group of shareholders sought permission from the Court of Appeal to take an appeal to the privy council. This was denied, leaving the Bell Group to seek leave for an appeal directly from the Privy Council. I hope that the Privy Council agrees to hear this appeal. The learned judges from the the center of empire could give no better farewell gift to the colonial judiciary, than give them a sound clip around the ears, and tell them to apply the law.
