Shayne,
       Long-term, ARL has been trendless since 2001 - the current price is 
pretty much what it was 2 years ago.
 It is in a medium-term uptrend (though the trendline has been broken)and a 
short-term downtrend.
 Backtesting fails to find a consistently profitable indicator for this stock - 
perhaps it could be successfully range traded. 
 ARL is an example of the huge profits that can sometimes be made by short 
selling stocks - in 1997 it traded as high as 480 and the 2001 low was 14. I 
wish!
