A couple of years ago the US imposed tariffs on certain steel imports, raising the price of steel in the USA. This had the effect of raising the price of hot rolled steel worldwide. Very good news for struggling steel producers everywhere, as it turned out. Is it so far fetched to suggest a 'shortage' of beef in the USA will have a similar beneficial effect on farmers worldwide? (except Canada obviously).
