[sharechat] Stock Guru 2003 March results posted
.... on the Competitions message board.
And the winner is (so far) brokers "Forsyth Barr". The ForBar portfolio
contains three winners: Waste Management, Hellabys and Fletcher
Building and two losers Fisher and Paykel Appliances and Auckland
International Airport. However, AIA is within half a percent of its
competition opening point, so it is perhaps a bit churlish to call it a
'loser'. I think it is fair to say that the secret of this ForBar portfolio is
not a particular share, but more the fact that big losers have been
avoided.
Flying the flag for the sharechatters, and in second place overall, is
Nigel B. His winners CEN and GPG have not performed strongly
enough to balance the losses on his other three selections but he is
not far from breaking even.
The best performing individual shares so far, of all the shares selected,
are:
Vertex ( +16.4% ), Richmond ( +10.2%), CDL Hotels ( +8.57%),
Hellaby ( +5.5%), and Capital Properties ( +4.48% ).
One of the obvious losers since the last reporting date is 'People's
Picks', down from the no.2 spot to no. 5. Yet this is still a
comparatively creditable result, and fall can be explained because the
Air New Zealand share price has dipped.
Let's hope that more of us can be back in the black next month. If
things carry on thi way we face the prospect of being beaten by the
brokers!

"A: Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."
