[sharechat] Telecom Outlook 2003
Like you Snoopy I would like to hear from others about whether this 3G thing
is a goer. Seems to be mixed views - in Japan it is the thing to have
apparently but Hutchison seem to think that in UK and Italy it might not be
that successful.
The Sydney Morning Herald had a good piece on this from an Australian
perspective last month.
Essentially said that while the rest of the world has put 3G on hold
Hutchison (then)in Australia are pushing ahead.
It went on to say that Telstra appeared to be fighting back with technology
called CDMA 1xRTT - an upgrade of their existing network

>From a financial point of view where does all this leave Telecom in the near
future.
If Hutchison proceed with 3G in Australia ain't Telecom committed to put
more money in? at some higher risk than previously?
If Hutchison decide not to proceed where does this leave Telecom's
investment in this project?
Seems a lot of uncertainity around.
Any thoughts anyone
