In reply to Allan Potts (18.12.02 18:01): > During the past several days SNOOPY and I have had numerous posts Yes, I believe I have understood the dividend situation from your discussion. Much the same happens in my home country - there is a withholding tax and an income tax increase for residents, vs. a smaller withholding tax for non-residents. (Incidentally since "discovering" the NZSE I keep seeing similarities between it and the market in Slovenia.) It was the capital gains tax that had me worried. I am very happy to hear that there isn't one. Following your good experience I have written to Access-brokerage and am awaiting their reply. Meanwhile the people of stockbroker.co.nz (NZIJ Stockbrokers Ltd) have replied to me and seem very responsive and open to a guy from nowhere. Does anyone here trade with them?
