Fastrade (now Charles Stanley) did not require any
conditions regarding domicile when I joined.
Brokers like Fastrade are regulated by the
Securities & Futures Authority and must pass some demanding regulations to
continue their membership.
Most are between 10 and 15 pounds a
trade.
Companies like City Index also run both CFDs and
spread betting at low cost entry but the gearing makes them a trap for the
unwary. Benefits of CFDs (only FTSE350 stocks) are the ability to go short as
well as long and there is no stamp duty applied.
