Hi Gerry, > > >It is therefore difficult to compare SKC with its Australian peers. >For starters, SKC management is so much better. The Australians >would never have been able to do such a good job at the Adelaide >Casino as SKC is doing. > >SKC has managed to put a human face on their operations and neither >the Yanks nor Australians can equal that! > > So I take it you won't be selling your SKC shares either? Just a bit of a follow up to the comments that I made on the latest stockmarket and terroism post. I don't wish to belittle the threat of terroism. Indeed I think that it should be taken very seriously, and I believe that the New Zealand authorities are taking it very seriously. Furthermore if the aim of terroism is to kill people and target an icon in doing so, I believe that the Sky Tower and the associated casino and hotel must be a top target. However, having a fleet of F16s flying over the Hauraki Gulf won't spot a suicide bomber planting something under his hotel bed. The government is well aware of this, and no doubt so is Sky City management. Just because nothing is appearing in the headline news does not mean that Auckland or Sky City has gone to sleep on the terroism problem. What I am suggesting here is that although the prospect of having the Sky Tower blown up is very real, every measure is being taken to prevent this happening. That being the case, I regard it as foolish to base an investment decision on an extreme catastrophic event that might happen, when the odds are overwhelming that it won't.
