[sharechat] WOW - Woolworths - not quite wow
One of Snoopy's best pieces is an analysis he did on Woolworths last
November. It is on the message board
http://www.sharechat.co.nz/cgi-bin/msgboards/post_show.pl?id=2491
Good time to review Woolworths.
If Snoopy added this years numbers to his analysis the situation (earnings
growth / return on equity etc) would still look exceptional.
A great company as Snoopy says. It still is.
One of Snoopy's screens was the ability to set margins. Read the post and in
particular the comments of Roger Corbetts,CEO. Very interesting.
Latest result shows margins in the grocery division not growing and, worse
still, not meeting market expectations.
Shareprice takes a hammering as "WOW was priced for perfection" - something
Snoopy did allude to.
Will be interesting as to where the WOW shareprice will go over the next
month or two. It was "priced for perfection" and in the eyes of the market
did not deliver, even though Woolworths remains a great company.
Hope this never happens to The Warehouse.
By the way Snoopy the likes of Phaedrus would probably have sold in early
July at $12.50 when the long term uptrend (that started early 2000 when the
price was $5.00) was broken.
They probably would now be looking at Fibonacci retracement levels of $11.55
/ $10.31 / $9.30 for future guidance. Strange it closed pretty close to the
$11.55 yesterday.
Maybe the charts were forewarning the market that margins had not increased
and to expect a fall. Spooky eh
