[sharechat] BCA Problem
Winner, I recognise that you were just trying to draw a chart showing what
had happened as BCH turned into BCA, and it was quite interesting. You were
also fairly correct when you said I would probably have liked to see a chart
showing how the BCH price had progressed. Certainly, in tackling a situation
like this, I would just have done the simple arithmetic starting with the
real 1998 price and moving ahead one step at a time like this:-
100 shares at Xmas 1998, cost $825
after split, 100 shares becomes 200, same origional cost
after merger, 200 shares becomes 312, same original cost
312 shares x $4.62 (your Wed figure) = $1441.44
$1441.44 – $825 original cost = $616.44 profit = 74.72%
This is a bit different to your stated “doubled your money”, and that is why
I said I thought your figures looked a bit strange.
(Snoopy: I was only feferring to the figures mentioned by Winner and not the
chart. You don't seem to realise you have disagreed with some of his
figuring yourself. He gave the 1998 adjusted price as “the equivalent to
$2.30 odd”, and you gave it as $2.64.If you take his Wednesday price of
$4.62 and deduct your $2.64 you get a profit of $1.98 which is 75% which
is very close to my own figure above which is different to Winner's "doubled
your money" which is why I suggested his figures were a bit strange.)
