There is an interesting article in today's 'Independent' relating to hedge funds short-selling. I quote in part:- " Betting that Telecom's share price would follow global trends down the gurgler, United States-based hedge funds short-sold 65 million Telecom shares. In essence, they sold Telecom shares they didn't own for delivery at a later date, betting that between the sale date and delivery date, Telecom's share price would fall ................. Now the short sellers have to buy and deliver the Telecom shares......................" Too bad, how sad.
