appeared overnight, I do use a non throwaway e-mail address, and most 
crucial of all I'm not spamming people.

I think you are treating this matter a bit lightly Nick.  I can 
assure you that once your name has been sold across the internet and 
put on various spam lists it is not a joke. SNOOPY
