Who knows? A few years down the track, today's prices might
(in retrospect) be quite attractive. When Telecom is at $10,
people will be saying: "Why or why didn't I buy at $5."

Actually, there's plenty of news at the moment. Wrightson,
Bendon, FPH, Telcom, Tranzrail, etc.

Static? Fletcher Forests, Brierley, FPH and Telecom have been
moving plenty. Bendon is involved in a two-way (three-way?)
takeover battle. Lots of action.

Haven't you heard: investing is passe. All the "now" people are
into spending, not saving. zip-zap, no problem. For the first
time since the depression, New Zealand's aggregate household net
saving is negative.

Once upon a time, there were three co-educational state secondary
schools in a New Zealand provincial city. Two of the schools had
poor academic results and only a few hundred students attended
these schools. The third school had excellent academic results
and had 1300 students. This situation persisted for several years.
Eventually, it was decided to combine the two smaller schools and
give them a new name and image. Same students, same staff, same
decile (2). But a new image! The International Baccalaureate!
And they lived happily ever after. Yeah, right.

I'm not too sure about that. If the socialists get re-elected,
there will be plenty of jobs for people with PC degrees.
Social workers, counsellors, Treaty of Waitangi researchers,
government bureaucrats, broadcast journalists, teachers,
lawyers, probation officers, and so on.
