Well each to his own. I still think commercial/industrial property at the moment is a very sound investment so we can agree to differ there. I used to hold some Sky City inherited from my father but I had these nagging moral scruples about people being sucked into an addiction they were unable to get out of and I felt more and more uncomfortable about owning SKC so I sold them. I'd do the same for tobacco stocks when I think of terminally ill cancer patients dying in agony. I recall some analysis that, I can't remember the term, shall we say morally defensible stocks have been doing better than morally reprehensible ones. On one Australian trip I sat upstairs in the Penrith Rugby League Club having a few drinks and watching some sports game with my brother in law. Down below in the gaming machine pit we watched a middle aged woman march in and plonk herself down in front of a machine. Over the course of the next 3 hours she spoke not a word to a living soul and emptied her handbag slowly into the machine. At the end of 3 hours she stood up, stuck her handbag under her left arm and marched out. Oh well, I suppose that was the housekeeping for the week and she could now pick up some food parcels for the kids. Makes you sort of twitchy getting dividends out of that, tends to give one bad dreams at night and feel on edge. cheers, Hugh ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/chat/forum/
