Terry and Craig,
Thank you for those sites.
This updated List of web sites and a lot of
other material will be transferred to the LTI series early next
week.
The next update to this List may not be for
another 3 months and only a few ultra excellent
sites will be selected.
( If any of your sites are selected, they will be
in that update ).
The main reason is that we want to keep up the
quality of this world class List ( There is no other! ).
Too many posts overlapping others, will bring down
the quality. The greater the number of sites, the less people will refer to
them. However, the creation of different catagories helps with
extending the number of sites.
At this stage, there is still room for
another 3 or so US sites and some 2 UK sites. Perhaps 2 Australian
sites may fit in as well.
Some readers may want to know how many hours have
been spent on evaluation, revaluation and finally selecting the
websites:
I had to select x sites out of 37 UK sites. Only 10
were selected; that is about one in every four. Obviously, this was a
gruelling job and one would go mad unless one appreciates the importance of
the job!
I have checked out up to 8 sub sites of the
same web site.
That UK job took me at least 14 hours net! And this
was after obtaining a lot of experience in selecting previous
sites!
( That time included the preparation
of comment or reshaping existing comment and cross checking of
sites ).
The US job offered 35 web sites and I selected 13.
Because some of the sites were more unique, it took less time, about 11
hours.
What I am trying to say is that most people don't
realize that this List of Web sites has such great
value!
I was lucky because the donors of these sites ( who
took a long time to collect them ) appreciated the benefits this List will bring
and many were regular posters. Otherwise, people may not have wanted to part
with these sites!
So, if you are credited with an URL of a
web site on that List, don't be surprised if your name appears on a
copy being read in other countries!
Gerry Stolwyk
PS: May I suggest that before anybody supplies more
web sites, he/she compares the content with that of existing sites on that
List!
