Good point - but financial services are perhaps more likely to be able to get up of the floor again.  It does, however, highlight the incredible challenge for individual investors - NAB's CEO didn't know too much about this Homeside thing apparently until last Friday - so what real prospects do individual investors have?  The solution is, arguably, to stick to what you understand - but the rub is that many business have significant interest rate and foreign exchange exposures that can be just as devasting to an industrial as a financial services operator.  I think there have been some rather recent examples of this!!

 

Many commentators have re NAB appear to have become very insightful after the event!  It will recover - indeed it may be a very timely trigger for management to re- assess - and the Australian Government to re-address its ridiculous 4 pillars policy.
