Thank you Malcolm, I'm glad you felt the need to point out to me my intelligence level. Australia isn't 'my' number 2 country to live in at all, in fact I find Australia to have an even more unhealthy insular, overly nationalistic opinion of itself than NZ. I was simply refering to a report issued over the media yesterday from a world organization (apologies I forget whom) that measures these kind of things. No one can dispute our standard of living (not necessarily quality of life however) has plummeted over the last 20 years compared to other countries. Whilst RIL exaggerates and delights in winding many chatters up (and don't they all bite so easily) many of the points he raises have some truth to them and if some people stopped getting so defensive and childishly comparing us to others (like RIL delights in doing) with the 'my toys are better than yours' attitudes and thought about some of the problems facing our country maybe we could make some progress. I am not whining or moaning I believe NZ is a great place to live and have stayed here but I feel we stick our heads in the sand and as long as we can see other countries with problems we perceive to be worse than our own we think "she'll be right mate". Instead of knee jerk reactionary (and personal) comments (which is just what RIL wants) either ignore him or discuss them rationally. And Malcolm if things are so bad in Aussie what are you doing living there?! I am not sure what nationality you are but I am sure the Aussies must love having you living amongst them with the obvious disdain you have for the "average" Australian. WARNING! attn andrew dengel Andrew from an aussie resident, doctors that have to read a text book to try diagnose whats wrong with a patient. car servicing that takes at least 4 visits to get to acceptable standard, new houses that fall apart in five years, expensive furniture that does not last three months, if this is your number two country to live in the sooner you move over here the better you seem even less intelligent than the average australian. the inteeligent ones mostly do not want an aussie doctor or any product australian made. the don't like getting NZ doctors over here because they would be preffered to australians in the job market. this is only a sample of whats wrong with australia. let allone the scams that go on.
