Just to clarify this, the NZSE 10 is made up of the
top ten listed companies by market capitalisation and does not remove blocks of
shares. However the NZSE 30 does.
"The NZSE30 Selection Index covers the 30 largest
and most liquid issuers with equity securities quoted on the New Zealand Stock
Exchange. The float capital of each company is established by removing all known
blocks of shares held, or more-or-less controlled, by one person or a group of
related persons and amounting to 30% or more of the share capital. This reflects
as nearly as is practical, the stock normally available to
investors."
