Dannie,
Thanks for your comments of May 14 on my post of
May 13, 2001.
I want to apologize for the delay in my reply;
I took a print of your remarks, mislaid it and found it again!
Being a closed fund, the
Investment trust and its
behaviour will be closer to an ordinary share, I think. They have annual
meetings and elect Directors.
I have broker friends who are doing a lot of work
advising on trusts.
One told me that older people do not like the high
discounts or premiums associated with Investment
Trusts; they tend to be more risk - averse.
As far as paying
back tax, some Unit
Trusts may use that argument to gain
business.
Since Dr Cullen has already commented on
it, any likelihood of that occurring, may be remote in my
opinion.
Anyway, there are a lot of people holding
Investment trust units and these are also voters!
Appreciating your comments,
Gerry
