Title: Re: [sharechat] INVESTMENT PROPERTY - AIA
Sounds good in theory. Has never been seriously contemplated because of the capital cost of relocating, which is more than the RNZAF could afford. The Whenuapai runway needs an expensive upgrade, but it would cost much more to up and move the several squadrons, administrative infrastructure and personnel, particularly if new facilities had to be built. Not that this will never happen (there is actually some sense to it), but it is not likely in the short term.

A more likely scenario is that some units may end up at Ohakea before long. There'll be some vacant space there come the end of this year.

As a follow - up to my first post of yesterday, May 8, AIA released a statement at 4.30 pm. yesterday.

The CEO, mr Goulter confirmed that the Airport could accomodate all future RNZAF requirements, including residential housing, hangars and maintenance bases.

That could be good news for FAI !!!
