Thanks Gerry
It would be good for Rubicon if Gull & Caltex started a bidding war for Challenge.
I wouldn't have thought that the Commerce Commission would put a "block" on Caltex
going for it.

Mick,

I think that it will go for more than $ 20 mill. irrespective of their market share.

You will recall that at first Challenge caused problems with price cutting and when Gull stepped in, another potential headache arrived on the scene.

Competitors would be keen to get rid of at least one of these two companies!!

As there are more companies in the market, the Commerce Commission may approve a sale to existing companies and Gull would get such an approval first!

If both Gull and Caltex think that they have something to gain in securing additional critical locations and / or securing the supply installations at the ports, then so be it!

Gerry
