For what's worth, IMO there is going to be
considerable pressure on AIRVA share price in the short term. Further slide of
the share price is highly likely because for the next 6 to 18 months AIRNZ is
going to report disastrous annual results. Whether the anticipated poor
performance have been factored in by the current share
price, only time will tell. Certainly the short and medium term future
does not look promising. AIRNZ reported a mere $4 M half year profit recently, I
would suspect that the 2001 financial report would be a negative NPAT
(as opposed to a profit of $184m? before adjustment to change to accountancy
policy) because of the massive restructuring and redundancy cost associated with
ANSETT and AIRNZ and other unfavorable operating parameters surrounding the
airline.
I bought its share with anticipation AIRNZ would
have a solid year from the Olympic games and the hype 2001 celebration, but it
did not materialized. So, I sold my shares at a loss and moved on, otherwise I
would be have suffered further with opportunity costs by holding onto
them.
