Spectrum issued this announcement today in response to the SSH notice filed on the 8th of December.

REL: 1641 HRS Spectrum Resources Limited

GEN: SPE: SUBSTANTIAL SECURITY HOLDER NOTICE

Spectrum Resources announced that on 08/12/00 that a Substantial Security
Holder Notice was filed indicating an unnamed party had purchased 4.92% of
Spectrum Resources. After undertaking enquiries the Board of Spectrum
understands the sale of this parcel of shares may have been conditional and
that further purchases may be contemplated. The Board of Spectrum is working
to establish the purchaser's intent , but in the interim wishes to draw this
activity to the attention of existing shareholders.
