Hey Gerry,
I just like to rectify a remark on the trade with
France. I don't think that they do that much trade with them.
Affco has long term trade ties with the Brits and
they would welcome our certified NZ beef, there.
However, once Aff runs short, they could buy
on the spot market.
Most European countries are suspect and the
supermarket in England would not be too keen to accept their beef.
Beef from East Europe could be ok,
but it may also have been tainted!
You could buy beef in the US or S. America; this
would involve extra transport costs. In any case they still would prefer NZ
beef.
I am very pleased that AFF is trying to get a solid
share of the world trade in lamb.
There are some smart thinkers and traders at AFF:
Their reference to cornering the organically grown lambs in
Pategonia is but one example.
Regards,
Gerry
