[sharechat] FW:US Thanksgiving sales were hot
Ben,
A good example in this part of the world would be Fairfax in Australia.
They did make an early decision not to float their internet business F2, but
it is losing 40 million a year while they scrabble around looking for a
partner to invest in it and share their losses.
Like many companies they have invested in an on-line division with really no
idea how they will eventually make a profit from it.
I think Fairfax's approach was a fairly measured one but it does go to show
how very seductive new technology and the hype that goes with it,can be.
There surely must always be an answer to the question "Where and when will
this endeavor result in a profit for the shareholders?"
Regards
